My love for photography started at a very young age with a very basic camera. At the age of 15 I had to know the magic behind the process in which the world we see could be transferred onto a piece of paper. This is when I first developed a love of the darkroom and processing my images. I decided to further my study at Unitec, Auckland, earning a Certificate and Diploma in Professional Photography.
Upon completion I was fortunate to be accepted into the 3rd year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts programme at Elam School of Fine Arts at Auckland University.
In 2002 I moved to London where I fullfilled a dream to work for the BBC in the Picture Publicity Department. This involved commissioning photographers and directing shoots to produce publicity images to promote all the various programmes that the BBC produces.
From this experience I gained the confidence and drive to become my own boss and an inspired freelance photographer. In 2004 I returned to NZ, completed a 1 year part-time Certificate in Small Business Management and simultaneously began to build my 'empire'. My Auckland based studio has been open for three years now and is currently run by Jasmine Kovach. We also have a dedicated wedding photography business. In 2007 I was invited to work on the film set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Having recently completed this I am now based in the UK again and am freelancing in the vibrant city of London, specialising in publicity images, portraiture and stock photography.
